TEXT 1:87 HO quad hopper: This scale 41'-6"-long four-bay ready-to-run hopper car by AHM is available in 12 road names and color schemes, including several major railroads and private companies. Manayunk Mining & Smelting, as lettered on our sample, is an imaginary company named after a neighborhood in Philadelphia, Pa. The colorful car is white with orange-red rising sun and black lettering, typical of many contemporary prototype color schemers. The all-plastic model has rigid-frame AAR-type trucks and truck-mounted horn-hook automatic couplers. The wheelsets' check gauge is correct. The flanges are slightly deeper (.040") than recommended by the NMRA, but the model will run on commercial code 70 track. Price: $2,49.
